Search Engine Optimization is a hot topic nowadays. If you have a website and have been on the internet for any time now, I am sure you have heard the term SEO. I have other websites, and get calls all the time from various Search Engine Optimization companies.
I don’t pretend to know everything, so I am always curious to hear how others work. I got a call from a company today actually. We had quite a discussion. I asked about what type of methods he used, since he appeared to have a decent track record. One method was Link Purchasing. I was quite surprised to hear, that a guy appearing to be good at what he does, uses link buying as one of his methods. It’s been my experience that can come back and hurt you.It somewhat defeats the prupose of the foundations of all the search engines, to return results from good, relevant content. If Link buying was something that was encouraged, then all the major corporations would just have to write cheques to appear at the top of the search rankings.
Regardless, the good news is that good, quality content, that you the end user wants and needs, will always prevail. We have all heard the term “going viral” in regards to a video, or game or website. That means if it is good, a whole bunch of people flock to it, spread it, and the content is recognized very fast by millions of people.
So, no matter what you hear, content is king. If you can add value, insight, be helpful, eventually, you and your website, will rise to the top of the search engines. With a little help of course. Until next time.
